Struggling to get pregnant? In vitro fertilization (IVF) is our most powerful tool to help you.
Even though the technology of IVF is all but universal, the way RISE Fertility physicians customize this technique to fit your individual needs is what makes all the difference. The struggle to get pregnant can be stressful, and we want to help put your mind at ease about the process.
We customize the most advanced techniques
and innovative technology to increase your chances of success.
Below is a comprehensive overview of the entire IVF process:
Fertility care is not one size fits all. Your RISE Fertility physician will personalize a treatment protocol to fit your needs and meet your goals. They will also answer any questions or concerns you may have about the process.
Once we’ve determined your IVF plan, you will be prescribed medications to promote the growth of the eggs over 10-12 days. You are carefully monitored during this phase in order to optimize your cycle.
Once the 10-12 days of medications has ended, your RISE Fertiliy physician will perform a 10-15 minute procedure to collect the eggs, which are then combined with sperm to create embryos. During the procedure, you will be placed under anesthesia.
Once created, the embryos are observed in the lab for up to 7 days. They can be transferred into the uterus, biopsied for preimplantation genetic testing, or frozen and saved for the future. You will be able to make the final decision regarding the use of the embryos.
Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has created some unique challenges, we have taken the necessary steps to keep you safe while on your fertility journey.
We offer telemedicine visits through safe and secure video conferencing or telephone for new patient consultations and follow up consults. Connect with a RISE Fertility physician in the comfort and privacy of your own home. It's just one way that we stay together even while we're apart.
IVF is a relatively quick process that usually takes 10-14 days. The timeline depends on a variety of factors. These include the individual patient, their response to their prescribed medication, and how the eggs develop during the process.
Over the course of the 10-12 day stimulation phase, you will come to the office for about 3-4 quick (15-20 minutes) monitoring visits. Blood work and an ultrasound are performed to check follicular growth. We offer appointments from 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Saturday.
Most patients generally tolerate their prescribed IVF medication with few side effects, if any. Some patients may experience hormonal symptoms such as bloating and fatigue, which usually go away once medications are stopped. Please inform your RISE Fertility physician if you are allergic to any medications at the time of your first appointment. Contact a physician immediately if you are experiencing any unusual side effects after starting the medication.
Your IVF protocol will vary based on personal factors. Your RISE Fertility physician will take your medical history, previous fertility treatments, and your ovarian reserve and hormone testing into account to create a personalized treatment protocol and optimize your outcome.
IVF actually has a lower risk of multiple pregnancy compared to other fertility treatments. This is because you decide how many of the embryos are transferred into the uterus. If you transfer one embryo, there is about a 1% chance that embryo will split and lead to a twin pregnancy. Conversely, if you want to increase your chances of a multiple pregnancy, you can implant more than one.
RISE Fertility has no barriers when it comes to location. Come to us at one of our convenient locations near Aliso Viejo in Newport Beach or south Orange County or we will come to you virtually in the privacy of your own home.
