THE RISE FERTILITY PROCESS

IUI Step-By-Step

This easy and minimally invasive strategy may be
your path to a natural pregnancy.

STEP 1

Ovulation Induction

Medications like Clomid or Letrozole can be used to stimulate your eggs to grow or we can consider taking a more natural approach.

STEP 2

Monitoring & Ovulation

Your RISE Fertility team carefully monitors your cycle and response until it's time to ovulate. Ovulation can either occur naturally or it can be triggered at the perfect time.

STEP 3

Intrauterine Insemination

The IUI procedure places sperm directly into the uterus using a thin, soft catheter. The procedure is painless, takes about 10 minutes, and is performed right in the office.

STEP 4

Pregnancy Monitoring

Once you are pregnant, we are with you through the first trimester. Weekly ultrasounds and labs ensure your pregnancy is healthy and progressing normally.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions about IUI

The length of the IUI process can depend on your natural cycle length, but the treatment cycle generally takes about 2 weeks. You will come to the office for 2-3 monitoring appointments for ultrasound and bloodwork during that time to check your progress.
Your RISE Fertility physician will use your medical history, previous fertility treatments, and your hormone testing, as well as factor in your unique goals and preferences to create a personalized treatment protocol to optimize your outcome.
Your partner will come to the office on the day of the insemination to provide a sperm sample. A sample can be collected at home and brought into the clinic or he can use our comfortable and private collection room right in our office.
Your chances of success with ovulation induction and/or IUI depend on many different factors. Your RISE Fertility physician will review the success rates as well as other important factors to consider prior to choosing this course of treatment.
You get that positive pregnancy test, your RISE Fertility physician and team will continue to monitor you closely through the end of the first trimester. Weekly ultrasounds and bloodwork are performed to check the health of the pregnancy and to make sure everything is progressing normally. We graduate you to your Ob/Gyn for prenatal care usually between 11-13 weeks of pregnancy.
The side effects of the medications used for ovulation induction are minimal and mostly hormonal (bloating, fatigue, etc.). Intrauterine insemination is a painless procedure that takes about 10 minutes to perform in the office.
The risk of twins or triplets after ovulation induction with intrauterine insemination is higher than with IVF and single embryo transfer. The twin rate can range between 8-15%. Talk to your RISE Fertility physician about strategies to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancy.
Overage for an IUI cycle depends on your carrier and policy. At RISE Fertility, our unique financial consultation process will help you navigate the costs of fertility care and review your insurance benefit coverage, while our exclusive fertility financing options help put treatment within reach.
